Off to Emerald

Contrary to what most of us would consider, Emerald does not have emerald mines, in fact it's known for it's high quality sapphires.We enjoyed a tour through the mines and shown how difficult it was to mine the gems.
Emerald was a lot bigger than we considered it would be and is very much a central hub to many other towns in the region. We went onto Duaringa after 2 days. The caravan park was situated directly behind the pub - very basic but had a good time chatting with the locals.
