Day 2 in Mackay - still punching

Just to continue a super visit to Mackay - our challenge to cross another one off the "Bucket List"! Finch Hatton, about 30 minutes west of Mackay, a rough road but a conventional sedan could negotiate with care - Forest Flying... Woo Hoo, Flying Fox through the tree tops - speed, altitude, adrenaline and exercise. $60 person was a little steep but the rewards were plentiful!
Next onto Broken River - spotting platypus! Weather was cool and miserable, haven't seen one of these strange creatures in the wild and after many attempts it seems that the elements will put a dampener on this again. We looked, changed locations several times, got cooler and more tired as the clouds began to envelope the mountain top on which we wanted to find this illusive creature. About to give up the search, the "platypus whisperer" Jamie (Deb's youngest) led us to another position - you guessed it, he spotted one of these shy creatures and wonderful, I got to share the vision however how distant the sighting. Within several minutes, another location, another sighting. This time playing closely in front of us (I'm on cloud nine). Ready to head home, we'll check out one other area - another platypus and even better activity.
Two of the most rewarding days in a row and crossed two specials events off our bucket list - how cool!
