Paronella Park

Nearly everyone we have spoken to has said we must visit Paronella Park - built in 1933 by a Spanish migrant named Jose' Paronella. The place has run into huge disrepair due to cyclones, flooding, family health issues and concrete cancer after being completed in 1935 and destroyed 11 years after.
The park is now newly owned as a family concern with attempts to restore the park to it's former glory. We wish them luck as the decay is internal and as a National Heritage site, it is unlikely they would be permitted to replace old with new.
On a brighter note, the park has a quaint and romantic feel and somehow it would be a shame to alter that appeal. We have booked to go back in the evening tomorrow to take on an even more romantic viewpoint. Whilst I have provided a rather bleak description of the park, this was only to give a background story behind the construction and in no way should be a deterrent to paying the site a visit.
