From rubbing shoulders with Dick Smith at the Qantas Museum, bumping into my cousin, Chris Humpries at the Stockmans Hall of Fame or doing a Sunset River Cruise - Longreach was full of surprises. Touring some back streets we saw hundreds of kangaroo seeking shade under the canopies of massive trees and families of emu roaming the bitumen (groups of a dozen or so). Streets are labeled with bird names carved into metal decorative plaques and the feel of the place is enticing to say the least.
