Brownes Lake and Tower

Across the road from Blue Lake are Bownes Lake and the Tower. From the car park we could see the Tower was just a short walk up the hill. How wrong were we? Our leisurely stroll up the hill became a near cardiac event for both of us unfit souls. My guess is the distance was about 1 kilometer to the tower but seemed like 10 kilometers on a very steep incline. The decent was just as difficult with knees rattling and an uneasy decline making us uncomfortably unstable. All in all though, a great cardiac workout and worth the spectacular views!

Just a couple of kilometers away from our walk is the conservation park which concentrates on revegitation and and protection of endangered animal species. More walking but the best part of Mount Gambier is that most things a free or very low cost. Would be nice if the rest of the country would be as inviting instead of being opportunistic money grabbers!
